About this Course
You will be trained and prepared for the role of Powerboat Instructor including being able to deliver ISA Introduction to Powerboating and ISA National Powerboat Certificate Courses in open power driven boats.
Course duration : 4 days
Pre requisites: Powerboat level 2 cert, submit a log of driving experience; VHF radio licence, 1st Aid, Safeguarding 1 and Pre entry cert, min age 19.
Syllabus
KNOWLEDGE OF SPORT: Role of National Governing Body, Role of ISA Training Centres, Knowledge of ISA National Powerboat Scheme, Role of Coaching Ireland. PERSONAL SKILLS: Powerboating skills and knowledge, VHF radio communications, Emergency care. ENVIRONMENT: Weather, Tides & currents, Development of environmental awareness, Protecting the environment. INSTRUCTION STYLE, VALUES & ETHICS: The Instructor, Ethics, Learning styles & teaching methods, Working with children, Inclusion. INSTRUCTION SKILLS: Delivering skills based sessions, Delivering knowledge based sessions, Course programming, Delivering on the water skills sessions, Delivery on shore skills and knowledge sessions, Use of appropriate tasks and exercises, Group management, Managing Resources, Assessment - standards for and methods. SAFETY: Risk assessment, Risk management, Action in the event of an emergency. COMMUNICATION: With participants, with other instructors. REVIEW, SELF-REFLECT & EVALUATE: Feedback from participants, Evaluating session objectives, Evaluating methods and performance.
