Come and explore Cork Harbour and the amazing SouthWest coast on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way! Enjoy the beauty of the landscape and have great fun learning to sail or improving your sailing skills. Soak up the atmosphere aboard under the expert leadership of Yachtmaster Instructor Eddie English.

This course is for beginners and those with a little sailing experience. The aim of the course is to provide an introduction to the world of sail cruising in a positive and structured manner. The course is as much about getting to grips with living aboard a cruising boat as it is about learning to sail. By the end of the course the sailors should be able to take their place as a competent, safe member of crew aboard a sailing yacht.

Price €875 for 5 days or book individual weekends: Sat + Sun €410 or Fri-Sun €465. Including berth, gear, meals + tuition.
Boat "Holy Grounder" is a Beneteau First 36.7. She is 36' long and has 3 double cabins with saloon space for the Skipper. 
Length of Course 5 days or equivalent over 2 weekends. The 2 day weekend is no overnighting onboard. The 3 day is stay onboard on the 2nd night. The 5 days is stay onboard for the full duration as these are mile builders also. 
Objective By the end of the course the sailors should be able to take their place as a competent, safe member of crew aboard a sailing yacht.
Location Cork Harbour or West Cork, South Coast of Ireland.
Equipment Included The Boat has full safety equipment, all nav. aids and powerful engines. The safety equipment includes lifejackets and harnesses for each crew member. Waterproofs are available on request.
What to bring

Soft bag with change of warm clothes, waterproof jacket and trousers, toiletries, sleeping bag. Your own sailing equipment if you have them - waterproofs, torch, sailing knife.

Books: Cruising Logbook €12, Comp Crew Book €16.

Kitty & pocket money to cover incidentals, fuel and berthing charges or a meal ashore. 

Meals Some meals are pre-prepared by our qualified Galley Cook. Nothing better than sitting at the table in the saloon for a meal with fellow crewmembers after some hard sailing! Please inform us of dietary needs and allergies. 
Syllabus Knowledge of sea terms, parts of boat, rigging and sails. Sail handling. Ropework. Fire precautions and fire fighting. Personal safety equipment. Man overboard. Distress signals. Manners and Customs. Rules of the road. Dinghies. Meteorology. Seasickness. Helmsmanship and sailing. General duties.
Pre Course Advice Study weather and tide. Study area on relevant charts (Navionics). Bag packed as advised.
